William Holman grew up in Nederland, Texas, after his family relocated there from Mobile, Alabama, when he was a young child. William graduated cum laude from Lamar University in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in political science before continuing his education at South Texas College of Law Houston.

While in law school, William immersed himself in advocacy and academic excellence. He participated in South Texas’s Appellate Advocacy program, remained active in the ACLU chapter and Democratic Law Students Association, and earned repeated recognition on the Dean’s Honor List. He was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society and received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for outstanding achievement in legal research and writing. At the same time, William worked as a part-time law clerk, gaining hands-on experience in business immigration, contract litigation, and residential construction defect cases.

After graduating in December 2022, William continued developing his litigation and appellate skills by assisting in the representation of Houston-area homeowners in complex construction defect litigation against large homebuilders. His work culminated in assisting the firm’s chief litigator during oral argument before the Texas Supreme Court on behalf of Texas homeowners, an experience that reinforced his commitment to standing up for individuals facing well-funded corporate defendants.

In March 2023, William joined the Sloan Firm to broaden his civil litigation experience and focus his practice on representing injured individuals. Shortly thereafter, he and his family relocated to Longview, seeking a slower pace of life and deeper community roots, and promptly adopted three kittens from the same litter.

Since moving to East Texas, William has immersed himself in the local arts community. He regularly shoots film photography at community events, including Ollie’s Downtown Takeover, the Great Texas Balloon Race & Festival, and Stroope’s Flatwound Initiative Benefit Concert. His photography can often be found displayed at Greenside Beverage Company, one of his favorite local spots.

When he’s not practicing law, William can usually be found in his darkroom developing film. A strong advocate for preserving traditional film photography, William is a member of Pineywoods Darkroom, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing resources and education to East Texas film photographers. He also enjoys writing and recording music as a self-taught songwriter, and cooking in the kitchen or at the campfire.
